SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK / TROPICAL STATUS…MAY 15, 2013…ISSUED 2:35 P.M. EDT…PHFC

Good day everyone,

The Storm Prediction Center has indicated a SLIGHT risk of Severe Thunderstorms this afternoon into tonight FOR PARTS OF TX…

SPC DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK

The SPC has also indicate Severe Thunderstorm Probabilities for the Day 4 through 6 Outlook

SPC DAY 4 – 8 OUTLOOK

I was going to hold off on beginning issuance of the daily tropical weather synopsis, however we do have our first official tropical wave show up on the surface analysis map from the NHC.  This does not have any chance of developing, however, I didn’t expect a wave this early, and it will be interesting to track.  So, once again, the main focus will now be the tropics, and severe weather, unless an outbreak is forecast, will remain posted as it was today.

NHC SURFACE ANALYSIS MAP 1200Z

I will be back later, with a tropical outlook.  Pleas either bookmark this page, or look in the past posts if you require this information to be up on page longer.

Have a blessed day!

About palmharborforecastcenter

I am a Tropical Forecast meteorologist, providing hurricane forecasts during the Atlantic Hurricane Season. I retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in July of 2001. Meteorology became my passion in high school, and I have continued my educational background in meteorology since 1996, when I undertook the study of Tropical Meteorology. While working toward my degree, I had to unexpectedly withdraw from college due to my oldest sons medical reasons. I do however, meet the educational criteria of the AMS to be recognized as a meteorologist. Studies include, but are not limited to the Navy Aerographers Mate course, Naval METOC meteorology course, Meteorology 2010 Sophomore level course while attending St. Petersburg College, Clearwater, FL., Basic Forecasting course for operational meteorologists from Rapid WX, meteorology institute, a four month meteorological internship, and extensive research on numerous meteorological topics such as the MJO, NAO, satellite imagery interpretation, etc. I have been forecasting Tropical Weather (Tropical Storms and Hurricanes) since 1996, with my main client being three different Coast Guard Commands.
