POSSIBLE DISTURBED WEATHER? JUNE 15, 2014.

It may be nothing, but this was the area the GFS had been looking at.

This is Meteorologist Storm Walsh…I am going to be monitoring this area for persistence, as in the last few frames of the satellite loop, there appears to be some cyclonic turning. Lower convergence is weak, however upper divergence has increased. To view it, go here http://weather.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goeseasthurr.html

…then at the bottom of the satellite image, click the animation button…choose at least 10 – 12 frames or more to view it before sunset, then choose medium zoom…once you have done this, click on the center of the mass of cloudiness over Honduras.

About palmharborforecastcenter

I am a Tropical Forecast meteorologist, providing hurricane forecasts during the Atlantic Hurricane Season. I retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in July of 2001. Meteorology became my passion in high school, and I have continued my educational background in meteorology since 1996, when I undertook the study of Tropical Meteorology. While working toward my degree, I had to unexpectedly withdraw from college due to my oldest sons medical reasons. I do however, meet the educational criteria of the AMS to be recognized as a meteorologist. Studies include, but are not limited to the Navy Aerographers Mate course, Naval METOC meteorology course, Meteorology 2010 Sophomore level course while attending St. Petersburg College, Clearwater, FL., Basic Forecasting course for operational meteorologists from Rapid WX, meteorology institute, a four month meteorological internship, and extensive research on numerous meteorological topics such as the MJO, NAO, satellite imagery interpretation, etc. I have been forecasting Tropical Weather (Tropical Storms and Hurricanes) since 1996, with my main client being three different Coast Guard Commands.

Thanks Storm for bringing this to our attention. We’ll all be checking this out on Monday, and waiting for your synopsis.

Well Storm…I don’t have this down to an exact science. But…something sure seems to be brewing. What do you think? I’ve got a lot of the gang in both the GOMEX and WATL. I know you’re all over it and can’t wait to see your next synopsis. They should call these systems “Stormvest” 93…etc..
